What is the toolkit?

This toolkit set out to describe the process of setting up a housing coop in the UK. It is being put together by people in Radical Routes, a UK-wide network of co-operatives for radical social change. The toolkit project was drafted by individuals in RR, edited and collaborating with Publicity Working Group, Digital Working Group and Alice.

We want to encourage people in the network to edit, feedback and add to what we have already collated, and be added to over time.

How to use this

In the August 2022 gathering, we are asking for feedback on this. Go through the pages and see if you feel there are things missing.

Please write any feedback on the 'Discussion' pages of individual webpages, or fill in this form - https://files.radicalroutes.org.uk/apps/forms/zDxHT5Kdz4HHCiDa - anonymously is fine too.

Or, help us with these specific questions

You are in a RR working group

Once their contract ends, how should it be maintained? Who should moderate it? How often updated? Which WG has ownership?

Currently on a mediawiki. We could change this?

Finance WG have a wiki - could we be friends with their wiki?

if you are (relatively) new to coops

Does this section make sense to you - Legal terms for different types of coops and 3 alternative structures [LINK]

Would it be helpful to have more info on the pre-incorporation stage i.e. - how to discuss/decide coop vision and values, who the coop is for (i.e. shared identities/membership) etc., how to find members when you are starting out on your own and deciding what is important to you and an iterative process with more people who might be interested to get a shared vision

If you have experience with coops
